Want Happier Kids and Families?

Bay Area Behavioral Consulting for Kids Aged 3 - 13

Let us work with your kids in the environment they need the most support: home, co-parent home or school.

Does your child have behavioral issues?

01.

Violent Behaviors

While kids hitting may seem as a part of a child’s developmental exploration, after the ages of 5, hitting siblings or parents can create a negative feedback cycle that can promote more and more violence.

02.

Too Much Control

Walking on eggshells with your kids?  Are they running the show? We’ll help you take power back in your family and doll it out appropriately to the kiddos.

03.

Screen Addictions

Screens are one of the largest contributors to child behavioral issues.  Let us help you use screens to get the best of your child’s behavior instead of letting it get the best of you.

04.

Eating Disorders

In today’s social media society, anxiety around body image can be debilitating for kids and disturbance around food is presenting itself earlier and earlier.  Let us help your child and provide you with strategies to improve your child’s eating behaviors.

How we can help

— 01

In-Home Behavioral Consulting

We work with your loved ones to establish positive bonding, loving boundaries and community within your family system using a variety of techniques.

These include token economy and other incentive-based programs as it is our belief that sometimes children need some help internalizing the outside boundaries. As long as we’re giving our kids a 9:1 interaction of positive to disciplinary interactions, their chances of being more intrinsically motivated is bolstered significantly and using incentives can help significantly.

We incorporate all of these themes and concepts into our approach to help families find happiness and cohesion together.

In-School Behavioral Consulting

When needed we are able to send in a behavioral specialist that will help support both student and teacher in various ways. Our goal is to generalize-out the now-stable home behaviors in a way that works for both the school and home comparably, using the same techniques that are found to work in that specific home.

Parent
Coaching

We equip families with more effective ways of managing their individual stress and frustration while promoting group growth. A large part of our work is attending to the parent roles and how we can help strengthen each parental position. We know that a strong union between caregivers is essential to having regulated children, so we also refer out to selected MFTs when needed – our specialists work well in groups and it can be beneficial for specialists and therapists to be connecting behind the scenes in order to construct and execute the best possible treatment plan(s).

About Dr. Lauren Ferber

Lauren holds a BA in Psychology, a double MA in Special Education and Philosophy and a PhD in Developmental Psychology with a special focus on Child and Adolescent development.

For the past ten years, Lauren has been running a successful counseling service in the Bay Area for families whose children are facing challenges associated with learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, deficits in interpersonal skills, oppositional behaviors, autistic spectrum issues, and various others.

Lauren has always maintained a soft spot for children with behavioral dysregulation, from the time that she first entered the field she consistently sought out the kids who wouldn’t listen to any of the teachers or needed their instruction differentiated. Her time is dedicated to kids that struggle in homes and classrooms because she believes that kids who need love most ask for it in the most unloving ways.

Happy Clients

Lauren has changed my son’s life, my family’s life, and my parenting. She came in and took a child whose anxiety was so severe, that he had stopped attending school. He was so dysregulated that we didn’t know what to expect on a daily basis, from a child who used to be so sweet and funny. I now have a child who goes to school happy and is just a regular kid. I have been a teacher for more than 15 years and Lauren immediately came in and struck a bond with my child. She becomes a member of the family as she is rooting for you and your child the entire way. I could call her at any time and she could talk me through any situation. I knew that someone had my back after we had tried getting help from multiple therapists, psychiatrists, and our local school. She still is someone I know I can count on. She is a kid at heart, a lover of fast food and candy, and truly understands children. Lauren is a gift, and you would be lucky to have her as part of your life.”

“Lauren is a godsend, truly. She gave our household and our parenthood power back to us after a truly difficult time in our 3 children’s lives, when it felt as though things had really gone off the rails. She came in, assessed our family style, and was able to immediately change the tone, behavior, and energy into a more positive and manageable environment for us and our children. She is firm, yet engaged in a way that really pulls the best out of our kids. Her method is simple, yet nuanced in a way that speaks to each individual child and family member. She teaches coping skills and adaptability, rewiring both parent and child to be able to better handle the difficult aspects of daily life and routines. Ultimately she partners with you to create a more calm, regulated home.

We're grateful beyond words for the amazing work Lauren has done with our kids! Last year, we were receiving reports of problematic behavior from school nearly every week. We were exhausted from the constant cycle of apologizing to teachers, weathering tantrums at home, and feeling like we were failing as parents. After working with multiple professionals in office settings, but seeing little improvement, our child psychologist gave the recommendation that we contact Lauren. As a coach available both in our home and in classroom settings, Lauren provided support at all hours, guided us to parenting with confidence again, and most importantly, built up our kids' confidence in their abilities to make better choices and be successful. She tailored her approach to the very different needs of each kid, and we are SO relieved to see them happy and on the right track now! -CURRENT CLIENT
